What is Invisalign?
Invisalign are special aligners that have been created by Align Technology to work just the same as permanent braces. The difference between braces and Invisalign however is that no one will know you are even using this product. These aligners are completely transparent, easily removable and more comfortable than ever before. Invisalign ensures that you do not have to change your lifestyle for an orthodontic appliance.
What is the advantage?
The biggest benefit is that this product is removable and that braces are not. This means that you can wear an Invisalign product and still enjoy any foods that you would typically eat without braces on. Cleaning is also much simpler and you can avoid all of the hassles of braces which can include abrasions in your mouth, discomfort and cleaning is also much simpler. Invisalign is not just for adults, Align Technology also manufacture Invisalign Teen for younger patients.
How does the treatment work?
In order for Invisalign to work you will need to wear a special set of aligners for two weeks. It is important to continuously where these aligners and to only take them out whenever you need to eat, brush, drink or floss. Aligners will be replaced every two weeks so that you can progress your way through the program. You will need to see your orthodontist once every six weeks to make sure that the program is working well. Generally people go through around 18 to 30 aligners and are on the program for anywhere from 9 to 15 months which can cut some time off of what braces would normally take.
