What’s Smile for a Lifetime?
Smile for a Lifetime being a non-profit and charitable organization has a simple goal of providing orthodontic care for those deserving kids and teens that do not have access to such dental assistance on their own. These kids will be given orthodontic scholarships by the Smile for a Lifetime Foundation as long as they have met established criteria. A support system is needed to help maintain a two-year treatment plan once the scholarships have been granted to chosen middle school through high school aged children.
Smile for a Lifetime Foundation’s Noble Mission
Smile for a Lifetime also known as S4L has a noble mission to inspire hope, boost self-confidence, and dramatically influence the lives of the children in the community. By doing so S4L will be able to bring a smile across the faces of children who later can use their gift to help others. Helping children who are the future leaders of our community is what Smile For a Lifetime is all about!
How to Qualify for the Scholarship?
Since the Smile for a Lifetime Foundation has only limited resources not all applicants who qualify for the scholarship will be selected. A careful and well-thought-of selection process is done in order to ensure that only the most deserving children are granted with this once in a lifetime opportunity to have a better smile in the future. The foundation’s board of directors will meet twice a year in order to review all the completed scholarship applications. Potential award winners are selected by the board considering all the factors presented to be screened by Wertz Orthodontics (Hershey, Lebanon, and Western Berks County Chapter). Wertz Orthodontics DOES NOT select the candidates but rather acts as advisors to the board when orthodontic questions can aid in the selection process.
To apply, Complete This form. After acquiring the form applicants must fill in all the information needed in order to qualify. The information provided should be truthful. Upon sending the application forms applicants must include a 5×7 head shot that shows their smile. Aside from that two letters from adults should be included stating the reason why they are convinced that the candidate deserves this life-changing award. Note that incomplete applications will not be honored.
Orthodontic Issues Requiring Treatment
Before submitting the application form and requirements applicants may wonder what orthodontic problems can be corrected. Minor and severe malocclusions (open bite, deep bite, under bite, over bite) can be addressed by this program. Different facial and jaw abnormalities can also be treated aside from overcrowding and other teeth misalignment problems. Orthodontic treatment will range from installation of different appliances including braces (clear, ceramic, lingual, and traditional metal braces), aligners, retainers, and palatal expanders.
Overall, Smile for a Lifetime caters almost all orthodontic problems of deserving and qualified youth. The only thing that applicants must do in order to qualify is to fill in the application form and submit it with all the requirements. Applicants will be notified once they qualify for free orthodontic treatment.
